Dr Mary P. Quin is the President of NANA Management Services LLC, an Alaska-based company which provides hotel management, food service, security, staffing, and remote camp operations.
Originally from New Zealand, Mary moved to the United States in 1976 to obtain her PhD in materials engineering. Her career began in R&D and product development roles with Raychem Corporation in California. After completing her MBA at Harvard Business School in 1988 she transitioned from technology to business, managing the national accounts sales force for Kodak’s Copy Products Division and the customer service function for Avid Technology. Mary also held positions at Xerox Corporation as General Manager of the Color Solutions Business Unit and Vice President of Strategy for the Production Systems Group.
After surviving a terrorist kidnapping incident in Yemen in 1998, Mary met her partner Ray Kaufman and later moved with him to Alaska. She researched and published a best-selling book, Kidnapped in Yemen, then launched an organics retail company, Tuliqi LLC, before joining NMS.
Mary has served on the boards of Material Sciences Corporation in Chicago, ASB bank and insurance company in New Zealand, and was chair of the board of CEDPA, an international aid organization in Washington DC. Her speaking engagements have included the Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC’s Today Show, and numerous corporate and non-profit events throughout the USA and New Zealand.
