
Ian Wright has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and an operating executive. Since joining Tesla Motors in 2003, Ian has focused on electric drive system technology for vehicles. He founded Wrightspeed in 2005, building the world’s fastest street-legal electric car as an early demonstrator. It’s still unbeaten in 2009. Wrightspeed builds Range-Extended Electric Vehicle drivesystems for high fuel consumption vehicles.
Prior to Tesla, Ian was a co-founder or senior executive in several technology startups, including Altamar Networks, QPSX, and Scitec. He has also worked for some larger companies: DEC, NET and Cisco. A native New Zealander, Ian is an alumnus of AUT and the University of Technology in Sydney. He lives in California with his wife and two children.
